Everbody’s all like look at the new batmobile and I’m just like “Zack used a Leica M Monochrom?”

Okay I care about the movie. But I found it very interesting that he mentioned which camera he used. Maybe it was a sponsorship plug. Gets his next Lecica free if he mentions it in the promo. How many millions of people will run their eyes across that image and see that it’s taken by a leica.

Not just any. The M monochrom.  Leica is known for tradition. While the insides may have changed the form factor of the outside has stayed mostly the same. Their hand made bodies have an industrial feel. Not light and toylike the way some point and shoot cameras can feel. It is my understanding that their lenses are good and have an all together different feel than others. I’ve also heard that they are pretty quiet compared to other SLR’s.

So, yes it spoke to me when Zach Snyder said he used a particular Leica. I guess when you are capturing a character as dark and rooted in the shadows you have to be extra careful about how you capture him. Every bit of light is important. And Zach has found the Leica M Monochrom to help him do just that.
