Earlier this summer the test footage of the limbo Deadpool movie released. The internet went crazy because we want to see this film. Then this week Ryan Reynolds finally made a comment about it  . Then wouldn’t you know it, the next day Fox studios announces a release date FEB 12. 2016 We are not in the clear just yet. There is a reason that this movie has been on hiatus from production. Deadpool is complicated. He’s not for the kiddies.  Here are some of the things a Deadpool movie must have. 

A sense of humor. Not just any humor. We’re talking extremely self-deprecating, sarcastic, snark on a hundred-thousand all while in the face of battle. It really  boarderlines is inappropriate the times that he jokes around. He is pretty comfortable with his sexuality. His humor shows that.

Wade Wilson is not a hero. He’s on nobodies side except for children. He has an extreme soft spot for kids. Beyond that he is a mercanary. Hence the name “Merc with a Mouth”.  He’s out for the money. To paint him in the same light as other Avenger types would be a huge mistake.

Although he has a healing factor that dwarves that of Wolverine, he has Cancer. Which has more than a few ramifications. He’s even more reckless than Logan when he fights because he doesn’t need to be more careful. Leads to injuries dealt with in an almost Monty Python fashion. “Its just a flesh wound”  There will be blood and guts. He will ridiculously pick up limbs and reattach them. His super charged healing factor also supercharged those tumors leaving his skin looking deformed and him with a constant stench.

I’m pretty sure Wade is certifiable. He’s broken on the inside. While he does some terrible things for money. You are brougt into his character by how hurt emotionally that he is by what has happened to him in his childhood and dealing with his own self-image.

Another one of his quirks is his food cravings. TMNT’s have pizza and Deadpool loves his chimichangas. He’s known to tuck a few away in his many pouches.  I don’t know if there has been an explanation why. It just is. It adds to his character. 

Two of the  most important things that really bring the character Deadpool to life are Pop-culture and the 4th wall. Deadpool knows about pop culture and will often mention it as it relates to what he is experiencing. We do that in real life.  He knows of his existence and will look out in to the audience and speak to you. Its not an easy thing to do. Very few movies do it well.  Ferris Bueller’s Day off and Scrooged are a couple I can think of. You cannot have a Deadpool movie without those things. 

Not a deal breaker but I think it should be mentioned that he has an on again off again relationship with Death. Yes death is a woman. That would be a hurdle by itself.
